Eddie Hearn is taking a victory lap at Dana White’s expense following the official confirmation of the long-awaited Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua showdown. With the heavyweight clash officially set for December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, the Matchroom head believes he has thoroughly outmaneuvered the UFC CEO in their high-stakes promotional feud.
The announcement came after a quiet power struggle over the venue. White, attempting to push his Zuffa Boxing banner, fought to bring the mega-fight across the Atlantic to Madison Square Garden in New York. However, Joshua’s existing contractual terms specified a UK location. While Turki Alalshikh eventually put the debate to rest by locking in Wales, Hearn was left stunned—and amused—when a Netflix press release still managed to feature White’s name.
“Dana White cannot be involved in this fight,” Hearn told iFL TV. “Netflix clearly didn’t get the memo… When I saw the press release, I just couldn’t stop pissing myself. You really got them to include your name in the press release, you silly, sloppy tit. It’s just so petty. You’ve lost, mate. You’ve lost. You did everything you could to bring the fight to America and rob the British fight fans of the fight. Give it up, son.”
Once friendly rivals, the relationship between Hearn and White has completely sourer in the wake of Zuffa Boxing’s launch and White’s aggressive push to reshape boxing’s regulatory landscape.
