Moldova’s top boxers are hitting the continental stage. From September 15 to 26, Sofia (Bulgaria) hosts the European Elite Boxing Championship. This edition marks a major milestone as the first organized under World Boxing, the IOC-recognized international federation that the Moldovan Boxing Federation officially joined this year.
Qualified through the national trials in July, the squad is led by World and European medalist Alexandru Paraschiv:
“Weight is on point, the team is fully prepared. Beyond physical prep, mental discipline is everything—eliminating stress and staying 100% focused in the ring.”
The women’s squad features a strong comeback from Maia Odajiu (51 kg), who praised the growing support for female athletes and the official sports kit provided by the Ministry of Education and Research:
“We go in with high hopes, but the ring will decide who is strongest. I’m proud to see women’s boxing gaining momentum in Moldova.”
