Unfinished Business: Constantin Ursu Sets Sights on World Glory

Sixteen fights, sixteen wins, and zero interest in remaining in his comfort zone. At 26, Moldova-born, Plymouth-based welterweight Constantin Ursu has already conquered the British and Commonwealth scenes. Yet, holding the prestigious Lonsdale belt is merely a stepping stone for what comes next: a shot at a world title within the next 12 months.

Despite delivering an 8th-round stoppage victory over Ben Vaughan in August, Ursu remains his own fiercest critic. Admitting he only operated at “20 to 30 percent” of his true capabilities, the unbeaten champion feels he didn’t get the adrenaline surge he craved. While he intends to defend his British title twice more to keep the Lonsdale belt for posterity, his eyes are firmly fixed on global glory. Whoever steps into the ring with Ursu next should be prepared for a fighter ready to unleash 100% of his power.
