Former UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley believes a third fight between him and Jake Paul—this time under Mixed Martial Arts rules—is the most lucrative matchup available for the merged PFL and MVP banners.
Ahead of his highly anticipated freestyle wrestling contest against Khamzat Chimaev at RAF Moscow, the 44-year-old veteran expressed his willingness to step back into the cage for the right opportunity:
“I think the biggest fight that the PFL could make with a merger with Jake Paul is me and Jake Paul in an MMA fight. I feel like that’s the biggest one they can do,” Woodley told Bowks Talking Bouts.
Juggling Chimaev at RAF and MMA Business
Woodley has revitalized his competitive drive on the wrestling mats recently. Following a victory over Joaquin Buckley under the Real American Freestyle banner, he is set to face former UFC Middleweight Champion Khamzat Chimaev. Woodley noted that preparing for two high-level opponents at once mimics his collegiate wrestling roots:
“In college wrestling, you might wrestle three times in one day. Training for Buckley and Khamzat at the same time makes sense because both are strong, aggressive athletes who rely on relentless pressure.”
Beyond his own athletic pursuits, “The Chosen One” has transitioned into an advisory role across multiple MMA organizations, including GFL, PFL, and Scott Coker’s upcoming ventures:
“I’m consulting these leagues out of true love for the sport. I’ve been at the top and at the bottom. I know market values, fighter numbers, and all the behind-the-scenes dynamics. GFL is giving fighters actual company equity—something no promotion has done before. I want to use my business knowledge as a weapon to move MMA forward.”
