WU19: 5 Goals and a Ten-Woman Masterclass! Moldova Outlasts Azerbaijan in Baku Thriller

The Moldova Women’s U19 national team capped off their trip to Baku in dramatic fashion, defeating Azerbaijan 5-3 in an 8-goal thriller. Following their win on penalties in the first friendly (5-4 after a 2-2 draw), Alexandra Bocancea’s team delivered another high-octane performance filled with goals and resilience.

Despite conceding an early opener in the 2nd minute, Moldova struck back furiously. A double from Adela Borș and a clinical strike by Sofia Dobrovolschi gave the visitors a comfortable 3-1 lead at the break.

The second half tested Moldova’s character when Nicoleta Boghiu received a straight red card in the 48th minute. Playing down a player for almost the entire second half, Moldova held their ground. Gabriela Stanciu extended the lead to 4-1 in the 65th minute. Azerbaijan capitalized on the numerical advantage to pull two goals back (3-4), but Natalia Corcina sealed the hard-fought victory with a 84th-minute goal to make it 5-3.
