Major executive shakeup in the fight game! John Martin has stepped down as CEO of the newly amalgamated PFL-MVP MMA entity. While the sudden departure sparked industry rumors of a behind-the-scenes power struggle, Martin set the record straight on Instagram, stating that the decision to step aside was entirely his own following the successful union of PFL and Most Valuable Promotions, endorsing Nakisa Bidarian to lead the next chapter.
MMA behind-the-scenes veteran Rich Chou (formerly of Strikeforce and Bellator, currently with Ki MMA) offered his perspective on the transition. Having weathered multiple promotion acquisitions over his career, Chou reflected on the volatility of the fight business: “It’s a crazy sport and an even crazier business, man. I’ve been on both sides of that situation. It’s a tough, tough business, and I just hope things stabilize over there soon because there are some really good people involved.”
