Cris Cyborg added another victory to her legendary resume at PFL Tampa, defeating former UFC contender Ketlen Vieira. However, questions surrounding her future in MMA remain unanswered as the 39-year-old icon hinted at possible retirement.
The bout was originally scheduled as a PFL Women’s Featherweight Championship fight, but was changed to a non-title contest after Vieira weighed in seven pounds over the limit. Despite the setback, Cyborg executed a dominant performance to secure her 10th consecutive victory. She remains unbeaten since her late-2018 loss to Amanda Nunes.
Taking a Break to Assess Next Steps Speaking at the PFL Tampa post-fight press conference, Cyborg addressed the major organizational shifts within PFL following its merger with Most Valuable Promotions, stating she is in no rush to commit to another bout.
“I want to take a little break and see what’s going to happen,” Cyborg said. “All this 21 years of training and all these things that happened in my life, it’s a learning process. Even today in this fight I learned a lot of things. I don’t know if I’m going to have a fight again.”
Whether Cyborg chooses to return to the SmartCage or close the curtain on a historic 21-year combat sports career, her status as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time is firmly cemented.
