Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, in a civil ceremony held in Portugal.
The Portuguese forward confirmed the news on Instagram by sharing a poignant photo showing two hands intertwining while wearing wedding bands. The post took the internet by storm, amassing over 3 million likes within just 30 minutes.
Dubbed the “wedding of the year” by the Portuguese press, the ceremony reportedly took place on August 11 in the coastal town of Cascais, near Lisbon. The couple’s five children were also in attendance for the intimate family gathering.
Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been together for 10 years, having first crossed paths at a Gucci store in Madrid where Rodríguez was working during Ronaldo’s stint at Real Madrid. The pair announced their engagement on August 11 last year, when Rodríguez posted a picture of a stunning $5 million ring with the caption: “Yes, I do. In this life and in all my lives to come.”
