Petr Yan is heading into Abu Dhabi with a clear point to prove: leave no doubts and leave Merab Dvalishvili on the canvas. With exactly one month until UFC 333, the reigning bantamweight champion is determined to show that his previous victory was no accident as he looks to close out their heated trilogy with an emphatic knockout.
“I expect another explosive, captivating fight. This time around, I want to prove to myself and everyone else that my last win wasn’t a fluke. I’m going for the knockout,” Yan revealed to MMA Fighting.
When assessing the landscape of the 135-pound division, Yan was characteristically unimpressed by the surrounding chatter: “I’ve been keeping an eye on the division, and honestly, nothing surprises me. People win, people lose — Song won his fight, but I’ve already beaten him. Everything still revolves around the same faces I’ve already fought. There’s nothing new happening. A true champion doesn’t cherry-pick opponents; that’s up to the matchmakers. I’m ready to take on whoever they put in front of me.”
