Moldovan weightlifters delivered stellar performances marked by grit, resilience, and top-tier results at the European Youth Championships (U20 and U23). Highlighting the delegation’s success, Ion Badanev (-65 kg U20) captured the silver medal and the title of European Vice-Champion with a 280 kg total and a silver-medal lift of 156 kg in the clean and jerk—an extraordinary feat achieved despite overcoming a recent injury. In the U20 70 kg division, Dan Dorin Betca shone with a brilliant silver medal 🥈 in the clean and jerk (161 kg) and a 5th-place finish overall (291 kg), joined by teammate Gabriel Danilov. Meanwhile, Alina Popescu (-57 kg U20) and Mihail Sobor (-60 kg U23) demonstrated fierce competitive spirit, securing strong placements inside the European top ten. Congratulations to all our athletes for their remarkable displays of strength and national pride!
