Former four-division world champion Adrien Broner (35-5-1, 24 KOs) delivered a grim prediction for Ukrainian boxing fans: in a potential fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) will lose by stoppage. He stated this in an interview with the FightHype YouTube channel, as reported by Sport-Express.
“I think Tank knocks Loma out,” Broner stated briefly. The American is convinced that, with proper preparation, the undefeated Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) will simply be too strong for the 38-year-old Ukrainian.
Broner explained his prediction plainly: in his best form, “Tank” is practically invincible. “Not many people can beat him. I think nobody, to be honest,” Broner added, emphasizing that the result heavily depends on Davis’s mental state and the seriousness of his training camp.
Why the fight is delayed Lomachenko and Davis could have met as early as the autumn of 2024, immediately following the Ukrainian’s victory over George Kambosos, but the parties failed to reach an agreement. In June 2025, Lomachenko announced his retirement from professional boxing, only to change his mind and return to training in the spring of 2026.
Now a free agent after his contract with Top Rank expired, Lomachenko stated he will only take on massive fights. According to The Ring, Emanuel Navarrete is among the options being considered for his return.
Lomachenko’s last official fight was on May 12, 2024, when he defeated Kambosos. Meanwhile, Davis last stepped into the ring in March 2025 against Lamont Roach, a bout that ended in a majority draw. Currently, a Lomachenko vs. Davis showdown remains unlikely in the near future: Lomachenko plans to return in the autumn of 2026, while Davis’s coach expects his fighter back no earlier than early 2027.
